SDC Best Practice Guide
Colour matching assessment of textiles and textile products
Produced by the Society of Dyers and Colourists

The aim of this guide is to provide information on how to achieve best practice for the working environment for both instrumental and visual assessment, drawing upon the expertise of world class practitioners. It is also intended to complement available SDC training courses as a reference too.

All national and international standards are written in a rigid format as the wording is expected to withstand court-room scrutiny and explanations are not permitted. This guide uses a more colloquial style and includes explanation wherever possible.

It is not intended to replace the standards mentioned above; these documents are the standards for accreditation and in cases of dispute will be arbiters.

The content of the Best Practice Guide was developed in consultation with a number of organisations and industry experts, most particularly the SDC Colour Measurement Committee, which provide the SDC with support in its endeavours to educate and to improve the knowledge of coloration.
