ULITA presentation: ‘Healing Stitches – therapeutic needlecraft at times of conflict’

To mark the reopening of our exhibition – ‘Around the World in 80 Textiles’, and the 2014 centenary of the First World War, ULITA is pleased to invite you to the following presentation: ‘Healing Stitches – therapeutic needlecraft at times of conflict’ given by Jacqueline Hyman MA ACR.
On Thursday 2nd October, 5.15pm – 7.00pm at ULITA (St Wilfred’s Chapel), with time to view items from the related Pesel Collection.
ULITA houses embroidered examples and the written thoughts of Louisa Pesel’s responce to the returning wounded soldiers during WW1, with her main achievement of establishing The Bradford Khaki Club.
Jacqui Hyman, of The Textile Restoration Studio, has been the consultant textile conservator at ULITA, and has worked closely with, amongst others, the Louisa Pesel and Egyptian Collections.
