SDC North of England Region – How Did I Get Here & Intellectual Property

  • You are warmly invited to attend the first lectures of the New Year at the University of Huddersfield. The lectures will take place in Room CEG/28 Canalside East ground floor, this is the building off Firth Street.

    Speakers include:

    5.45pm Tina Rani will talk about her experiences since graduating and the decisions she made that have led her to where she is now. Tina graduated from University of Huddersfield with MSc (Hons) in Textile Design for Fashion and Interiors in 2008. Since then she has worked for Quantum Clothing, Antler Luggage and is now working for Fairway Corporation Ltd.

    6.15pm Linda Hodgson, graduated from University of Huddersfield in 1997 and will talk about her journey from working in industry to having her own freelance design practice and teaching textiles.

    6.45pm Free buffet

    7.15pm Dr Joanna Thurston, Partner at Withers & Rogers LLP, Patent & Trade Mark Attorney, will talk about intellectual property and how it relates to the textile industry. Intellectual Property is about protecting your inventions and creations through patents, trademarks, designs and copyright. Essential knowledge and advice for students at the start of their career.
