SDC Leeds Student Section – Colour in Flowers
Date: April 30, 2019 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm
Location: Speakman Lecture Theatre, Clothworkers' Central Building, University of Leeds, LS2 9JT
The SDC Leeds Student Section presents the third lecture in the SDC Presidential Lecture Series – ‘Colour in Flowers’ by Tracy Tomlinson from the British Florist Association.
Is there anything so enchanting than the colour of daffodils in the field or the snow white hillside of snowdrops? We see colour and take it for granted, but when arranging flowers we see the colour in so many different ways. This talk will explain how the florist thinks every day, every hour and every minute about colour and how their skill allows them to put flowers together without a second thought. We’ll discuss the contrasts, harmony, composition, placement and expression of colour in floral displays and discuss the where and how the flowers reach our UK shores in tip top condition, as well as the work of the British Florist Association and flower industry.
Light refreshments will be available from 6:30pm in Room G.32b, School of Design, University of Leeds and the lecture will follow at 7:00pm in the Speakman Lecture Theatre, Clothworkers’ Central Building.
This is a free event but please register your attendance by email to: email@example.com
