    Liberty in Fashion

Why fashion and textile exhibitions are à la mode

Fashion exhibitions are now a global phenomenon. From the Metropolitan to the Louvre, at any given moment there are major fashion displays being installed around the world. Designers have embraced art exhibitions too with multiple fashion houses curating their own shows. But why is fashion so exhibition worthy? How did Yves Saint Laurent break visitor records at the Bowes Museum this year, and what did it take for Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty to become the Victoria & Albert Museum’s most popular show? Join Celia Joicey, Director of the Fashion and Textile Museum, London for a whistle-stop guide to fashion exhibitions, past and present. Enjoy an armchair tour of Liberty in Fashion, the 140th anniversary exhibition currently on display at her Museum (until 28 February 2016) and discover how the Liberty brand has remained à la mode from the 19th century to the present day.
