‘Colour, Light and Health’
Date: October 6, 2017 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm
Location: University of Leeds Clothworkers Central G32
You are warmly invited to attend an evening hosted by the SDC North of England Region to hear Dr Steve Westland talk about ‘Colour, Light and Health’ on Friday 6 October at the University of Leeds in Clothworkers Central G32 in conjunction with Leeds Light Night.
Steve gave an excellent talk at last year’s Light Night and his presentation on the 6th is related to it. His presentation covers: The auditory system has two functions (hearing and balance). Similarly the visual system also has two functions (sight and non-visual function). Light affects and influences us in ways that we are not consciously aware. In this lecture, you will learn how the colour of light influences us in aspects such as our alertness, choices, performance and emotions.
Light refreshments will be available from 5.30pm in Clothworkers Central G32 and the lecture starts at 6pm in the Speakman Lecture Theatre.
Please note that parking on the campus is not free.
Please confirm your attendance to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
There are a lot of activities going on in Leeds that evening and the SDC Colour Experience will be in the Merrion Centre from 6pm – 11pm with a live art installation and science demos. Following the presentation join SDC staff members Lisa, Shelley and Richard to make your own art with light. Reveal the rainbows all around you and create visual illusions with colour.
We look forward to seeing you there!
